My first IoT role was as the platform product manager for WiZ at Signify (formerly Philips Lighting). My mission was to create a robust platform with smooth integration with major smart home systems. One of the key projects was to adopt Matter across our entire product portfolio within a year, bridging the gap by adding integration with the Apple Home ecosystem.
The Internet of Things (IoT) has been a buzzword for over a decade. Yet, we still haven't reached the point of living in a truly connected world. The truth is, even for an IoT PM like myself, the current smart home experience remains more of a frustration than a convenience.
Now that we have a basic understanding of how data is transmitted through the OSI model and how wireless technologies have evolved over the past decades, I'd like to turn the focus back to the CPE.
How about starting your day with a cup of nice coffee and a quick scroll through emails and messages on your smartphone? Nowadays, it is probably hard to imagine life without a network; or to be specific, a life without a wireless network.
